4 Thrifty Ways to Reinvent Your Bathroom

Remodeling can be costly, but if you're in the mood for a change in your bathroom, there are lots of ways to reinvent your space without spending a ton of money on a full remodel.

Exaggerate Your Light Switches

An easy and cheap way to update your bathroom is to change up your light switch plates. You can go the usual route and buy decorative plates from a big box store, or you can take a few measurements and head over to the craft store. Find some cute frames that will fit around your light switch plates and hang them as a border around your plates. Feel free to paint, cover in fabric, or embellish the frames any way you please to make them exactly the way you want them.

Make More Room Using Wasted Space

Is your bathroom cramped? Do you need more shelf space? There's an easy fix for that! There is an excellent and mostly overlooked area in your bathroom that you could be utilizing: the space above the bathroom door. First, you'll need to measure the width of the top of the doorframe. Then, head over to your local craft or home store and pick up a wall shelf that can be mounted above the doorframe. Now you can use that space for extra towels or bathroom decor without using any of your much needed counter space.

Use Wallpaper... No, Really!

If you have any kind of shelving in your bathroom, an easy way to update the look of your bathroom is to line the back of your shelves with bold wallpaper. It's best to choose a color of wallpaper that is bold in contrast to the original color of your shelves. If your shelving is looking a little rough around the edges, or if you want to change the look of your bathroom without painting, this is an easy solution. You can change it up as often as you like, or if you want something that stands out even more, use different wallpaper for each shelf.

Update Your Drawers

Bathroom drawers and cabinets are the easiest and least expensive areas to redecorate. The easiest upgrade is to buy new drawer pulls or knobs, but you can also reuse your old ones by spray-painting them. You can also spruce up the inside of your drawers by lining them with pretty contact paper, but don’t just line the inside. Go ahead and place the contact paper on the sides of the drawers to really make them pop. It puts a little color in an unexpected place, which makes your bathroom a bit more cheery.
