Tired of putting out the same old Christmas decorations every year, but don’t want to blow your Christmas budget? Have no fear; you can easily mix up your Christmas decor with some inexpensive store-bought items and DIY projects. Even if you don’t want to/can’t spend a lot of time or money decorating, there are still quite a few ways you can spice up your home this Christmas season.

Centerpieces
A holiday-themed centerpiece on your dining room table can give new life to the whole room. One easy idea is to set three white pillar candles on a white dish and surround them with unwrapped pieces of peppermint candy. Or, if you have some spare ornaments laying around, arrange them inside a spherical vase. Then, add some detail with red and green ribbons and beads. -
Door Decor
People don’t usually think about decorating the inside of their front door, so you’ll be sure to stand out with this idea. If you have a white door, turn it into a snowman by attaching cardstock eyes, nose, mouth, and buttons to it. Then, finish it by tying a wide ribbon under the smile to create a scarf. -
LED Christmas Lights
Christmas lights have so many more uses other than being strung on the outside of your house. Instead of using candles this season, fill some empty wine bottles with LED lights for a lovely, glowing effect. You can also hang them on the ceiling in your hallway to liven it up and almost make it look like the night sky. If you receive several Christmas cards from family and friends you can use Christmas lights to highlight them. Pin the Christmas cards to a decorative bulletin board and then wind Christmas lights around the board and through the cards. -
Burlap
This rustic fabric is ever-growing in popularity, particularly around the holidays. Instead of using traditional garland this year, wrap some burlap around your best artificial tree or real tree to set it apart. You can also create a festive table runner by glueing lace onto a piece of burlap. -
Candy Cane Wreath
Set aside that traditional, green wreath and hang a candy cane wreath on your door instead. It’s easy and fun to put together, so it makes for a great kid craft idea for Christmas. All you need is: about 50 candy canes, a styrofoam wreath form, and craft glue. Simply glue the candy canes to the styrofoam with the rounded ends facing out and overlapping each other. If you wish, you can sprinkle some glitter when you’re finished or add a wooden letter to the center.
