Staycations are refreshing and help you recharge from hectic day to day life. The most important part of a staycation is actually relaxing. In our fast paced world, this can be a really difficult thing. Make sure you remember these 7 tips to have a successful staycation.
- Clean your house.
Make sure your home is in great shape before starting your staycation. This means do laundry, dishes, and even deep clean your bathrooms before you begin. This will help you stay relaxed during your staycation instead of feeling the need to clean and straighten. - Check your calendar.
Double check your schedule to make sure it’s a good time for a staycation. Move any dentist or doctor’s appointments to a later date. You don’t want any big work obligations during your staycation or directly after. Try to make sure it’s not during a busy time and you won’t have to stress about work. - Turn off emails.
If you have emails set to come to your phone, go ahead and turn them off. It will help you detach from your phone some and completely cut yourself off from work. Try to refrain from checking on your computer too. One email can ruin your whole day or weekend so just avoid your account completely. If you’re worried about an emergency, set up an away email stating the date of your return and who to speak with in case of an emergency. - Plan your activities.
Decide ahead of time what you want to do during your staycation. Maybe there's a movie or show you've been dying to watch, or a restaurant you've been dying to visit. Make a list of things you would like to do so you’re never bored. - Say yes.
Be a “yes person” for a few days. Try new things and branch out a little bit. This will make staying at home feel like more of an adventure. - Enjoy yourself.
To have a great staycation, you need to be in the right mind set. Prepare to take it easy and don’t set expectations for yourself. Schedule activities that you will really love. Try out a massage or schedule a spa session to treat yourself. - Recruit a friend.
Grab a family member or friend to do some things with you. Pick people that you know will be fun, positive, and make your staycation even more fun.
