With so many internet plans out there, it can be a bit overwhelming trying to choose ones that are available in your area. How can you be sure which ones will provide you with the greatest reliability and speeds for your money? To help save you from the anguish of choosing, we’ve outlined some of the best affordable internet plans on the market. We found these options to give you the best value, while meeting your internet requirements. Let's take a look!

Verizon

Verizon offers the fastest, most reliable internet thanks to their Fios fiber optic technology. Internet plans with Verizon start at just $49.99 per month for internet speeds of up to 300 Mbps or speeds of up to 500 Mbps for $69.99. If you are looking for the fastest speeds possible, the Internet 2 Gig plan gives you speeds between 1,500 to 2,300 Mbps for just $119.99 per month. Each of these plans gives you unlimited data and comes with no annual contract requirements. On the downside, availability is somewhat limited.

Alternatively, you can opt for a 5G Home Internet plan where available. As with the fiber optic plan, you can get a 5G plan starting at $49.99 for 300 Mbps, or get 1000 Mbps for $70 per month. If you already have a unlimited mobile plan with Verizon, you can get one of these plans for as little as $25 per month, basically extending your existing mobile plan to cover your entire household!

Verizon plans come with little to no fees. There are no equipment fees for any of their internet plans. Installation fees start at $99 for Fios but this fee is waived if you order online. For 5G, there are no installation fees attached whatsoever. Late fees are 1.5% of your unpaid balance, but again, these are avoidable by paying your bills in a timely manner.

Xfinity

Xfinity offers great internet speeds at incredible rates. Plans with Xfinity start at just $25 for internet speeds of up to 200 Mbps with the Connect More plan. Meanwhile, the Fast plan gives you up to 400 Mbps speeds for $55 or you can get twice as much with the Superfast plan that is just $10 more.

If you are looking for the best speeds for your money, then the Gigabit Extra plan may be just the thing for you. With this plan, you can get up to 1,200 Mbps for just $80 per month. On the downside, while prices are lower than Verizon’s, you won’t get unlimited data with these Xfinity plans. Data caps at 1.2TB. However, many families won’t use this much data, depending on their internet usage. If you do go over, you may be hit with a $10 overage fee for every 50GB you do go over.

On top of overage fees, there are other fees to consider as well. Equipment fees start at $14 per month for the equipment you rent. Installation is free if you do it yourself, but can cost you up to $100 if you want someone to come out to install it for you. Additionally, if you forget to pay your bill on time, you’ll be hit with a $10 late fee, regardless of which plan you choose.

Century Link

Century Link is another option for families in need of a low-cost internet plan. Plans range from $50 to $70 per month depending on the plan you choose. Century link offers speeds of up to 940 Mbps. With Century Link fiber optic connection, the company promises a virtually lag-free internet experience and unlimited data, giving you a great value internet plan.

The CenturyLink Simply Unlimited Internet plan is great for casual internet users. Offering speeds of up to 100 Mbps, this plan is ideal for people who use the internet to work or study at home, check emails and social media. On the downside, you won’t be able to do any streaming with this plan – at least not without a ton of buffering. However, like the fiber optic plan, there are no data caps and no cancellation fees. Pay month to month with no contract!

Astound

Astound Broadband is also offering highly affordable internet plans, but as a word of caution, these prices are promotional only and are subject to rate increases after the promotional period ends. But with that said, Astound Broadband offers you a ton of options to suit your needs. Get 300 Mbps internet plans starting at just $25 per month for fiber optic internet or get 800 Mbps for as little as $50 per month. However, prices vary depending on the region.

Those on the West Coast, are also subject to data caps which may be a dealbreaker for some. You can double that 1 TB data cap for an additional $10 or get unlimited for another $20 per month. Nevertheless, you could end up paying less per month than you would with most other internet plans, which is why Astound Broadband is still an excellent option for families in need of excellent internet speeds at a lower cost.
