Bathroom Sinks: How to Find an Affordable Option

There are several different types of bathroom sinks to choose from for your bathroom, but choosing the best sink for your bathroom and your budget can be overwhelming. Here are some tips to help you find the sink best suited for you.

Drop-In Sinks

These are probably your cheapest and easiest type of sink. They can be purchased at your local hardware or big box store. Just make sure your measurements are correct. If you want to install it yourself, and are comfortable working with plumbing, then find a sink that won’t be complicated to install. Drop-in sinks work with most types of cabinets and vanities. In terms of cost, these can start as low as $50 for entry models. Drop-in sinks are popular choices for those that want to install double sinks in a bathroom.

Pedestal Sinks

These sinks are stylish and take up very little room, which is great if you are trying to save space. They’re pretty affordable too, starting at around $200 for the standard sink. Of course depending on your budget, you can purchase a designer version at a much higher cost.

Under-Mount Sink

An under-mount sink is a step up from a drop in sink. They give a seamless look and are very easy to clean. These sinks pair well with solid surface countertops like granite or marble. The benefits of an under-mount sink compared to a drop in sink are both aesthetic and function. As far as function goes, under-mount sinks are easier to keep clean because you don't have to deal with the lip on the countertop. The range of cost for under-mount sinks varies, but you can count on at least $250. With the combination of the solid surface countertop and sink, it’s definitely not your cheapest option but it will add a lot of value to your home. Under-mount sinks also come in metal varieties which can add a sleek and modern touch to your bathroom design.

Vessel Sinks

If you have a larger budget, a vessel sink might be the right choice. These definitely add to the design aesthetic of your bathroom and are an interesting focal piece. They come in a variety of materials, which also factors into the cost. The range of shapes, sizes and materials of vessel sinks is almost endless. When choosing a vessel sink, consider how much you want to spend for the appearance of your bathroom.
