Common Repairs Your Washing Machine Needs

Washing machines make our lives so much easier, but we can’t forget to take care of them routinely so they can keep up the good work. Here are some common repairs your washing machine may need over time to keep it from wearing and tearing earlier than it should.

Wobbling

If your washing machine is wobbling, you may be able to repair this one on your own. Most of the time, wobbling is either caused by an uneven laundry load, or uneven washing machine pedestals or feet. If the wobbling happens when your laundry is completely even, then you’ll need to check the feet of your machine. Most of the time, the feet are self-leveling, so you can fix the problem by tilting the machine to lift the back feet off the ground. Lowering it back down to the floor will cause the feet to self-adjust and level out. If not, you can usually adjust the feet manually by simply spinning one of the feet to raise or lower your machine. Use a level to prevent this from happening again in the future.

Leaking Water

Leaking water can cause quite a panic in your laundry room. If you notice water leaking from your machine, it is generally due to a leaky hose. You can check these yourself by pulling your washing machine back from the wall and making sure each connection is tight and secure. Make sure you check the connections to and from the washing machine and the water supply. If these connections are all tight, you may have a hole in one of your hoses. If you can pinpoint the exact location, you can replace that one hose and save yourself a lot of trouble in the long run.

Not Draining

Drainage problems usually mean one thing: a blockage. You may need to call a plumber for this one. If you are experienced with snaking drains, you can try to tackle this one on your own. You will need to detach the drain hose from the washing machine and inspect it to see if you can see any blockage. If you don’t find anything, there may be a blockage inside your washing machine or inside the drain wall. Sometimes, it’s as simple as gravity.  Make sure you drain pipe angles down into the drain so water is able to drain from your washing machine. If you are unsure, make sure to contact a certified plumber to help you.
