Creative Ways to Throw a Successful Christmas Party

One of the best parts of Christmas is the parties filled with friends, family, and plenty of holiday cheer. Planning and decorating for your party can be almost as fun as the party itself. Be inventive with your food and decor, and there are endless activities you can plan out for both adults and children alike. Turn on some jolly Christmas music and use some of these tips, then you’re sure to have a blast!

Decorate Appropriately

Make your home look like Santa’s workshop with some Christmas decorations. You know the classics: wreath on your front door, ornaments on the Christmas tree, stockings on the mantle. Turn it up a notch this year with some LED Christmas lights. These aren’t just for outside your house; they can easily be adapted for the indoors. Wrap some around the banister on your staircase and your door frames. You can add some glow while also creating a beautiful photo backdrop by hanging lights behind a white curtain on your window.

Give Out a Party Favor

Who says a Christmas card should just be mailed out? Save yourself some postage and make it more personable by handing out your yearly Christmas cards at your party. This will give your guests a chance to sit and chat with you for a little while about how the year has gone, and you will ensure that you are able to have some quality, one-on-one time with each of your friends at the party.

Keep Everyone Entertained

In addition to providing snacks and drinks, you’ll also want to provide your guests with entertainment. Try out some fun adult Christmas games, such as Christmas Carol Pictionary Relay. This game is similar to the regular Pictionary, except with singing in addition to drawing. Divide into two teams and choose a host. One person at a time from each team will receive the name of a song from the host, which they have to sketch on paper for the rest of the team to guess. Once their team guesses the name of the song, they have to sing it correctly for 10-20 seconds. After the song is completed, the next person will repeat the same steps until everyone on that team has had a turn. The first team to finish wins!

Don’t Forget the Kids

If children will be attending your party, be sure to organize some fun kids Christmas games to keep them entertained. One kid favorite that can effortlessly become Christmas-themed is Bingo. Switch out the letters for small Christmas pictures, such as reindeer, candy canes, and gingerbread men, and have the kids play with Hershey’s kisses instead of plastic chips. Hand out inexpensive stocking stuffers for prizes and you’ll have a hit on your hands.

Have a Back Up Plan for Kids

If the young ones start to become restless with games, have some kid craft ideas for Christmas lined up. A fun one to try out is Reindeer Hot Cocoa Cones. Buy some piping bags, red pom poms, brown pipe cleaners, and googly eyes from your local arts and crafts store, plus some hot cocoa mix and marshmallows from the grocery store. Help the kids fill bags with the cocoa mix and marshmallows, then glue the googly eyes and red pom poms on one side to make a reindeer face. Tie it all up with the brown pipe cleaner. Children will love these because they’re fun to make and also fun to drink.
