How to (Legally) Get Windows 8 for Free

Windows can be expensive, but did you know there are situations in which you can get it for free? College students can often get Windows 8 or Windows 10 for free through their school. All you need to do is visit this link and enter your school email address. From there, you'll receive an email in your school inbox that informs you of all the software you can download, including operating systems.

Another great option if you have an older version of Windows is updating. Microsoft loves to update people for absolutely no cost. If you have Windows Vista or anything post-Windows 7, you can upgrade your operating system for free. You can even download Windows 7 if you prefer an older setup. Simply go to the Downloads for Windows page and browse available downloads.

One of the hardest things about switching to a new operating system is determining whether you’ll like the new version. Thankfully, you can also download trials to test out the software. The Windows Evaluations site is dedicated to allowing you to test various operating systems. Try them out and decide which one is best for you.
