Westeros White Sangria (Game of Thrones)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 2 medium oranges, sliced
  • 1 medium lemon, sliced
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) Riesling or other sweet white wine
  • 1 medium tart apple, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup triple sec
  • 2 cups lemon-lime soda, chilled
  • Ice cubes

Directions

Every good queen needs a signature drink. Have your servants combine the freshest pineapple and lemon juices with orange and lemon slices into a large cauldron. Gently press the fruit with a spoon to meld the flavors.

Next, pour in the wine (from your royal reserve) along with triple sec and apple slices. Chill the concoction for 2 hours or until it is as cold as the north side of The Wall.

Prior to being served, add the soda. Have it poured over ice into your gaudiest goblet, and share with your favorite dignitaries. Yields 7 servings (or 1 if you’re Cersei).

Modern Blueberry-Ginger Mojito (Modern Family)

Ingredients

For the Ginger simple syrup:

  • 1/4 cup grated fresh ginger
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup cold water

For the Mojito:

  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 lime, cut into wedges
  • 20 to 24 fresh mint leaves
  • 4 ounces ginger simple syrup
  • 4 ounces vodka
  • 5 ounces club soda
  • Ice cubes
  • Blueberries, for garnish
  • Mint leaves, for garnish

Directions

America’s favorite modern family inspires this modern twist on a mojito, taking cues from newlyweds Mitch and Cam. Add in some fresh blueberries from the Tucker family’s Missouri farm plus a bit of ginger as a humorous allusion to Mitch’s hair, and you’ll have the perfect drink to toast the night’s award winners!

For the Ginger simple syrup:

Grate freshly peeled ginger and mix together with sugar and water into a saucepan. Boil the mixture and dissolve the sugar. After the sugar has completely dissolved, cover the saucepan and steep the mixture for 15 minutes. Afterward, strain to remove any large pieces and cool the remaining liquid in the fridge.

For the Mojito:

In two glasses, use a (preferably wooden) spoon handle to muddle the blueberries, lime wedges, and fresh mint leaves. The fruit should release their juices and the mint should smell fragrant. Pour in the ginger simple syrup, vodka, and the club soda. Give a quick stir, and garnish with some whole blueberries and mint leaves, plus a couple of ice cubes.

This recipe can also be easily made in a pitcher for large parties. Just double or triple the measurements as necessary.

Jailhouse Poussey (Orange Is the New Black)

Ingredients:

  • 2 ounces Captain Morgan Spiced Rum
  • 2 ounces Peach Schnapps
  • 2 ounces Malibu Coconut Rum
  • 4 ounces Pineapple Juice
  • Starfruit or cherry to garnish

Directions:

Our version of a Leg Spreader is inspired by everyone’s favorite homemade hooch-maker at Litchfield prison. But don’t worry! You won’t have to mix ingredients in the toilet like Ms. Washington’s version or hide it in the ceiling for that matter.

Place some ice cubes in a shaker and pour in all of the ingredients. Take out all of the frustration that Vee has caused you by shaking the mixture well. Pour into your favorite cocktail glass when done.

A sliced piece of star fruit would be the perfect garnish to honor TV’s stars, but a cherry will do if you don’t want to channel your inner uppity "Mackenzie." All that’s left to do is sit back, relax, and enjoy your "Taystee" treat!

Emmy Drinking Game

If the speeches begin to drag or you've correctly guessed all the winners so far, our Emmy-themed drinking game will liven up your viewing party. While drinking through a three-hour award show isn't required, it certainly makes things more fun. Plus, if you aren't the TV buff that your friends are, this will certainly keep you involved in the night's activities.
