Staycations are a great way to relax and get refreshed during hectic times. Best part of a staycation is that you don’t have to go anywhere! You can plan activities and fun things to do at home to make your staycation a blast. We’ve gathered some tips to help enjoy a staycation without even leaving your home.
Start with a tidy home.
While you might not being going anywhere, a successful staycation does require some planning. One important thing is to clean and organize your home before your staycation. This might sound a little strange, but you will enjoy your time at home much more with a tidy house. If you have piles of laundry, dirty bathrooms, and sink full of crusty dishes it might be a little hard to relax. So a couple of weeks leading up to your staycation, make an effort to straighten and clean more than you normally would so you can come home and truly relax during your break.
Plan ahead.
It’s a good idea to think of some things you would like to do during your staycation. Is there a show you’ve been wanting to marathon on Netflix? A book you’ve been meaning to read for months? A staycation is a perfect time to catch up on your favorite things. In the days leading up to your break, write down any good activity that you think of so you don’t forget.
Pick your company.
A staycation can be taken alone or with friends or family. Think about the activities you want to do and decide who you think would want to join in. You might need a break and want to be alone for a few days and that’s fine too. You might decide you want to spend your time with your whole family. If that includes young children be ready to have quite a few activities planned for them. Kids tend to throw around the “bored” word pretty quickly. Gather up board games, new movies, and crafts for them to work on.
Go grocery shopping.
You want to make a long grocery list that includes plenty of your favorite foods for your staycation. If you don’t get enough food, you’ll spend a lot of time in your car or a lot of money on take out. Go ahead and stock up on yummy, but easy foods, so you don’t have to spend too much of your down time in the kitchen.
