Top 5 Best Electric Toothbrushes

Dental health is not only defined by the techniques you use, but also from the tools you use to get the job done. But what are the best tools? Obviously, the toothbrush is the most important tool, but how do you know which ones are good when there are so many commercials showing off every company’s shiny, new electric toothbrushes? How do you sift through the murk and find the one that’s right for you? Good news, we saved you the trouble.

Quip

Quip’s subscription-based toothbrushes have been hailed as some of the best brushes for those with sensitive teeth and gums. For those who have trouble remembering when it’s time to swap out brush heads, Quip sends you new ones every three months. Quip also comes in at the cheapest base price point on this list, the actual brush only costing $25 and every replacement costing an additional $10.

With the set, you receive not only the toothbrush, but also a travel cover mount, a large toothpaste, and a travel-sized toothpaste. That $10 every three months covers a new brush head, AAA battery, and two-different sized toothpaste.

With an aesthetically pleasing, minimalist design that allows for easy transportation for those on the go, in addition to features guiding vibrations to help you get your best brush, it’s unsurprising that it ranks high in this list.

Goby

Goby electric toothbrushes provide an affordable alternative to oral health and are a fan favorite for its effective and minimalistic design. Goby brushes have two different speeds for users to choose from and (with a subscription) fresh brush heads delivered to your doorstep every two to three months.

Not only does Goby provide a toothbrush, but they also provide users with an oscillating brush head with soft bristles, a hygienic stand with a removable base, a charging shell and adaptor, and a brush cover for when you’re on the go. You can buy this as a one-time purchase or opt-in for custom deliveries for extra brush heads with an addition $5-$6 for every shipment.

In addition to providing cost-effective electric toothbrushes, Goby partnered with New York University’s Dentistry’s Global Student Outreach Program. A percentage of every sale goes toward providing dental services to people all across the globe.

Philips Sonicare DiamondClean 9500

Definitely the most expensive toothbrush on the list, the Philips Sonicare DiamondClean 9500 starts at a cool $240—which includes the toothbrush itself and four brush heads (including a tongue-scraping brush). The Sonicare DiamondClean 9500 offers five different cleaning modes, three different intensities for each mode, and a sensor that lights up every time it’s time to replace the current brush head. These features are nice, but they aren’t the neatest ones of this brush.

The Sonicare DiamondClean 9500 can connect via Bluetooth to the Sonicare app, which will allow the user to set and track goals, address spots missed while brushing, and a multitude of other interesting and useful tools to help users’ teeth get the best clean.

If you’re willing to drop a couple hundred dollars on an electric toothbrush, then this should definitely be at the top of the list.

Burst

Burst, another subscription-based toothbrush, has the highest price point compared to the first two. It costs a total of $69.99 for the brush and comes with one brush head, a charging stand, and power brick. With the subscription, replacement brush heads are sent to your doorstep three times a year and cost about the same as the first two – $6 per new brush head (making an additional $18 a year after your initial purchase). It’s also worth mentioning that each brush head is equipped with charcoal-infused, anti-microbial bristles.

The Burst toothbrush offers a total of three different modes along with a clean timer and automatic turn-off. Burst boasts that their toothbrush has the longest battery life on the toothbrush market, and with a solid four weeks of battery life from a one-hour charge, their claim seems to be backed up. It’s no wonder that this one is so well-liked. It’s a quality, affordable alternative to brushes like the Philip Sonicare DiamondClean 9500.

Oral B Pro 1000

Much like Quip, Oral B Pro 1000 is used by those with sensitive gums and teeth because of the pressure sensor alerts that go off when the user brushes too hard. This makes it a handy tool for preventing painful irritation in the future.

Oral B Pro 100 is also much more versatile than any of the previously mentioned brands. This toothbrush has the ability to use 11 different brush heads compared to the one or two that the others offer.

A drawback to this brush? It’s loud. Many people who have previously used the Oral B Pro 1000 have complained of its loud noise. (Although supposedly there are some pretty funny videos online of cats getting freaked out by the loudness of the Oral B Pro 1000, so that’s a plus.) It also has a shorter battery life than those previously discussed—28 minutes, while the Quip claims its toothbrush can last a solid three months.
