Valentine’s Day On A Budget

Valentine’s Day is the day of love… and spending a ton of money on the one you love. However, it doesn’t have to be the holiday where you break the bank. You can have a happy and romantic day with your loved one without spending all of your hard-earned cash. Here are some Valentine’s Day ideas for those of you who are on a budget.

Go On A Picnic

If the weather is pretty, you can go on a Valentine’s Day picnic. In most cases, Valentine’s Day is a little too frigid to go outside, so instead, pack a basket with a blanket, a bottle of wine, and some finger foods from the fridge. Have a special lunch date with your significant other and enjoy some quiet one-on-one time with each other. It’s cheap and fun, and it’s romantic in a quaint and sweet way.

Go Homemade

In lieu of gifts, a homemade gift can mean much more than an expensive gift from the store. Sometimes, just baking a batch of homemade cookies or writing a heartfelt letter is the best gift you can give your partner. It truly is the thought that counts when you’re dealing with matters of the heart, and when you’re on a budget your significant other will understand.

Host Game Night

Make Valentine’s Day into a night of fun by turning it into game night. Turn it into a competition and challenge your boyfriend or girlfriend with a marathon of board games. You can give out prizes to the winner of each board game, but they have to be inexpensive and fun, like cheap Valentine’s candy, or compliments to one another. Be creative and make it fun so you can have the best date night ever.

Kick It Old School

Remember when you used to make mixed tapes for your high school crush? Bring back the butterflies and make your lover an old school burned CD to listen to on his commute to work. Make sure to add songs that are meaningful to your relationship. Include a few songs that bring back happy and funny memories as well. It’ll be a hit and it’s a pretty cheap present that lasts quite awhile.

Have A Movie Date

Instead of going out to the movies, plan a cheesy romantic movie date night at home. Wear pajamas, pop some microwave popcorn, and cuddle up on the couch for a night of ooey gooey rom-coms. You may have to throw in one action flick to keep everyone satisfied, but sometimes it’s fun to be over the top with the cheesy romantic stuff.
