Who Sang These Popular Songs?
Who sang these popular songs? Everyone knows these popular songs from the last forty or so years, but how many people actually know who sang them? We get so used to hearing songs on the radio that we think, “Yeah, of course I know who sang that!” But when we stop and think about it, we don’t.
It doesn’t help that some songs are just so good that there are a million covers just as popular as the original. For example, how many covers of “Hallelujah” can you think of? There’s a lot of them out there, and they are each better than the last.
In this quiz, though, we’re going to look specifically at songs from the '70s and '80s with few '90s and early-2000s hits thrown in. These songs all made it onto Billboard’s Top 100 at some point and often achieved international success. You should know these songs, but who knows if you know who actually sang them? We cover a few different genres with songs like “I Met With You” and “The Perfect Kiss” representing the 80s fascination with British rock. “I Will Survive” and “Funkytown” are just a few of the songs from the 70s disco scene. We’ve got 80s rap hits like “Bust A Move” or the synth-pop “Whip It.” What makes this quiz really hard is the number of one-hit wonders on the list. These artists produced one song you really love, but never gave you a chance to fall in love with the artist themselves.
