What started as a simple TV show for the couple has turned into a complete design phenomenon that's taken the world by storm. While they might not have invented "farmhouse chic," they definitely made it wildly popular! The success of the original show led to a spin-off as well, Fixer Upper: Behind the Scenes, where Joanna offers a glimpse into her design process.
Worth an estimated combined $20 million, these two hard-working folks have expanded their brand to multiple home decor lines through their very own Magnolia Market. But they didn't just stop at home goods--their business is now expanding into the media world as well. In 2019 they announced the launch of their new network, and they managed to snag the president of HGTV to run the whole shebang. The channel is slated to launch in 2021 and will apparently feature a revival of Fixer Upper.
HGTV veteran Mike Holmes hasn’t made an appearance on TV in quite a while, but that doesn’t mean he’s exempt from our list! His first HGTV hit was Holmes on Holmes, which ran on the channel from 2003 until 2008. In it, the general contractor would meet up with homeowners whose properties had recieved less-than-stellar renovations from other contractors. Using his expertise, he and his crew would do their best to fix the damage that had been done.
This led to a slew of other HGTV appearances for him, and, unlike some other stars on the channel, every series featured his name in the title. That's some serious star power! Currently, Mike Holmes is worth an estimated $30 million, and he remains one of the wealthiest people to ever be on the network. That “Make it Right” motto sure pays the bills! He's done his time, paid his dues, and deserves every penny.
Real estate wasn’t even on the “Property Brothers” radar until they needed a way to pay for their movie production budget--fate has a funny habit of surprising people that way. However, after buying their first house for $250 and selling it for $50,000, the two found an opportunity that was too good to pass up. Now, they’re worth a combined $200 million dollars! We wouldn't be surprised to see that number continue to rise in the future.
On their hit show of the same name, the Property Brothers help people find and successfully makeover fixer-upper homes, with Drew acting as realtor and Jonathan working as the contractor. While people might have initially tuned in for their housing expertise, the brothers' good looks definitely keep people tuning in week after week! Interestingly, the show wasn't originally on HGTV. Instead, it started its life on the Canadian W Network.
